Instructor Interview Questions

When hiring an Instructor, look for someone who has significant experience in their field/industry. You’ll also want to ensure you select a candidate that is an excellent communicator that enjoys mentoring others. Ask questions that help you get a sense of the candidate’s motivation for applying for this role, as well as their communication skills and personal attributes.

• Do you have any experience mentoring or coaching others? Please elaborate.
• Tell me about a time someone taught you something important. Why were they so effective? What did you learn from this experience, in terms of communicating information well?

• Our student body is culturally and age diverse. How would you be sensitive to this in your teaching methods?
• [Hand the candidate a program-related topic, with details written on a piece of paper.] Give them a minute to consider the information, then ask them to explain it to you.
